Are you a potential Groomer-in-Training?

We’re ready for more Muddies to join Mud Bay’s journey into new businesses!

Our NBEs have been hard at work on moving Mud Bay toward its goal of providing more for dogs, cats and their owners.  After five months of work, they have selected three opportunities to pursue in 2018-2019:
  • Happy, Clean Pets;

  • Food & Supplies without entering a store; and

  • The Digital Mud Bay Experience

We're ready for two more Muddies to join Mud Bay's journey into new businesses! Beginning with Happy, Clean Pets, we’re recruiting two Muddies to become New Business Operators / Groomers-in-Training (GiTs), a position we see as a step toward becoming a Mud Bay Skin & Coat Specialist and playing a lead role in opening Mud Bay's first Mudrooms.

Are you a potential New Business Operator/Groomer-in-Training?

We see Mud Bay’s New Business Operators/Groomers-in-Training (GiTs) as the pioneers of Mud Bay’s Mudroom services. GiTs will learn from an established grooming academy in Los Angeles, CA to become competent groomers. At the same time, they will begin working collaboratively with NBE Nichole (also attending the academy) to develop the Mud Bay way to teach grooming skills to future Muddy groomers.  GiT will be a transitional position that we expect (but don’t guarantee) will grow into Skin & Coat /Grooming Instructor.

What does the initial training period involve?
  • Our two GiTs will travel to Studio City (LA), CA to attend the Healthy Spot Academy to begin coursework Fall 2018. New Business Entrepreneur Nichole Martin will also be attending the Academy. The training is five months of full-time, hands-on training from professional grooming trainers.

  • Candidates will be provided housing or housing subsidy while attending the Academy.

  • During these five months, our GiTs will collaborate with Nichole on planning for the launch of Mud Bay's first grooming location and its grooming academy. Collaboration will likely include some reading, and planning will likely include helping to refine the business model for Mud Bay grooming, developing operational processes and developing Mud Bay's own curriculum for training groomers.

Once the initial training is successfully completed, we expect our GiTs to…
  • Return to Mud Bay to help open the first Mud Bay grooming location – most likely in Thurston County, WA.

  • Play a lead role in continuing to develop and launch the implementation of grooming processes for Mud Bay

  • Play a lead role in continuing to develop and launch the teaching of the initial curriculum for Mud Bay’s Skin & Coat/Grooming academy

  • Train Muddies to groom; train groomers to teach

  • Work in various Mud Bay locations as grooming services grow

Mud Bay's long-term plan is to train all future groomers in-house. Our expectation is that our first generation of Mud Bay groomers will both help to develop the curriculum necessary to teach new groomers how to groom the Mud Bay way and bring that curriculum to life as grooming instructors. Important note: we can't--and don't--guarantee that our first Groomers-in-Training will necessarily become groomers or grooming instructors.  The Mud Bay careers of our GiTs will evolve the way everymuddy's do--if, and when, possible opportunities become realities and if, and when, we prove to be the best choice for a new position.

Grooming services at Mud Bay will be a constantly changing and dynamic environment as we continue to fine-tune how we will deliver the best grooming services in the region.  It is almost certain that some aspects of our plans--our plans for grooming, for our grooming academy, for our GiTs etc.--will change as we learn more.
